Intelligent conversation

Mission: Lower Decks

It was that time again. Time to fill the obligation placed on him as a condition of his joining Starfleet.

Bill made his way to the Intelligence Office. He'd not met the new CIO yet, but with everything going on at the moment he felt that it was understandable. That probably meant the check in was overdue. As he hit the announce chime he thought back on the other Intelligence officer's that had served on the Astraeas and wondered what this one would be like.

Roxa wasn't expecting company and didn't have any appointments scheduled for the day. She gave a slightly curious "come in" and stood from her desk.

Bill gave a quick salute as he stepped through the door. "Lt Onaix, I'm not interrupting anything am I?"

Returning the salute "no sir" she paused and picked up a PaDD "just going over a few reports."

"Starfleet Command like me to periodically undergo evaluation with our intelligence staff." He glanced towards the chair on his side of Roxa's desk. "Any chance we can get that out of the way?"

"Absolutely" she broke the salute and gestured toward the chairs on the other side of her desk.

Bill picked the chair on the left and sat, leaning slightly on the left arm rest. "How do you want to do this?" He asked then shrugged slightly. "In the past your predecessors, and the Intell Officers I spoke to when I was with the DTI, just asked me questions until they satisfied themselves I wasn't going to go all Kahn Singh on them."

"Well" Roxa said blinking a few times "how are you feeling" there was a slight pause "are you going to go all Kahn on us?"

Bill shook his head. "Nope. Not that I'd tell you if I was, but I'm not."

"Well that's a good start" Roxa gave a soft smile "when's the last time you had a visit with a counselor?" She wanted to see if Rogers would answer her honestly.

Bill exhaled slowly, his brow furrowed slightly as he thought. "I think the hospital I was in after the Astraea exploded sent one to talk to me." It was truth, although an uncertain one. "I've not met the new one on the ship yet. The last guy we had was bogus."

"Well I'd like you to set an appointment, sir" she wasn't used to giving orders to an officer that out ranked her, but it was one of the rare times she was forced to do so.

"Sure." It was a reluctant agreement. His head dropped. "Probably overdue a temporal adjust check in too, guess I can get that out of the way at the same time." He muttered to himself then raised his head, looking at the intelligence officer with a small smile. "Anything else you'd like to ask me?"

She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head slightly "sounds like you know the drill" a smile cracked across her face.

Bill chuckled. "It's not my first rodeo. But seriously, is there anything else you want to ask me?"

Roxa hadn't been informed about William Rogers which was something that rarely happened. She wasn't expecting to even have this interaction with the Lieutenant Commander so she really didn't have much for him at the moment. He was someone she would keep a close eye on and do a little research, but said "none that I can think of" she gave a nod and stood from her desk.

"Okay then." Bill couldn't stop his eyebrows rising a little. He drummed his fingers on the chair for a second attempting to reorganise in the face of the abrupt ending of the conversation. He stood. "I'll let you get back to it."
