Into the Fire

Posted on Thu Aug 1st, 2019 @ 4:36pm by Captain Abigail Laurens & Lieutenant Commander William Rogers & Lieutenant Commander William Gunnison & Lieutenant Jack Carver & Lieutenant Aleksander Voroshilov & Lieutenant JG Charlotte Aschail

Mission: War and Peacekeeping
Location: Main Bridge
Timeline: Current

Abigail sat in the center chair again, eyes fixed firmly on the view screen, her hands gripping the arm rests of the seat. She glanced at the Rabittess along side her and nodded slightly before turning her attention back to the view screen again.

"Lieutenant Voroshilov, are your people ready?" Abigail asked quietly, casting a momentary glance at the intelligence officer standing slightly behind her chair.

"Just say the word ma'am," Aleksi nodded, having spent the last several hours to execute his mission quick and quietly.

"Engineering? Status report?" Abigail asked without looking back.

"Everything is green to go, ma'am." Charlotte said immediately, "No major problems to speak of."

"Are we good to get underway again?" Abigail countered.

Silently, Charlotte cursed herself, "Yes, ma'am, engines are at one hundred percent and fully at your command."

"Very well. Lieutenant Rogers, open a channel to No Mercy." Abigail ordered.

Bill's hands moved with growing surety across the controls. "Revenant Actual. Astraea.. Do you copy?"

"Revenant Actual, go ahead, Astraea." came Jack's voice, with that professional cool that all fighter pilots aspire to.

"Lieutenant Carver, we're ready to continue our journey as soon as you and your men are ready." Abigail spoke with surprising calmness despite the thundering of her own heart rate.

"Revenant actual, understood, Astraea actual. Revenant wing holding relative position and standing by. Remember to keep it to warp four or below." Jack replied.

"Understood Lieutenant." Abigail drew in a deep breath and straightened her shoulders as she leaned into the back of her seat. "Lieutenant Rogers, close comms to No Mercy and get us underway, warp four. Keep our shields up and keep us at yellow alert until we come up within range of the Zendaya. "

"Course laid in." Bill replied. On the viewer the stars stretched and snapped into streaks of light. "Estimate 4 hours? until we reach the Zendaya, Ma'am."

"Lieutenant Gunnison, I want a message sent to the Zendaya, text only. Advise Captain Sorenson that we have resumed our journey but due to technical limitations we are restricted to warp four and give them our new ETA." Abigail ordered again.

"Aye, Ma'am," Will said. He tapped out the message and added a few small tweaks to the transmission to add validity to the claim that the Astraea was experiencing technical difficulties. They wouldn't hold up under close scrutiny, but he was trusting that the crew of the Zendaya had enough on their hands already that no one over there would take the time to examine the message closely enough to catch the deception.

Abigail sighed softly and closed her eyes momentarily. Four hours. Four hours until they reached the Zendaya. That meant they had 4 hours to make sure they were all entirely prepared for everything that may come their way.

"Send messages to Security, Engineering and Medical," Abigail ordered quietly. "Make them aware of our ETA and ensure they're prepared for what is going to come. We'll transport them in to transporter room one. Have Security make sure that the transporters are ready to scan for anything that may be a threat. Have medical on standby during transport, just in case. Make sure Engineering is locked down..." Pausing for a moment, Abigail turned toward Ichiko. "Make sure the weapons lockers are taken care of, just in case. Just like we talked about before," she said pointedly before turning back to the view screen in front of her. "Other than that, I guess we just wait."
