How many techs does it take to change a lightbulb?

Posted on Thu Jan 2nd, 2020 @ 12:45pm by Crewman Telleon Venn & Lieutenant Commander Calvin Morgan

Mission: Astraea Jollification
Location: Sickbay

It was getting towards the end of the night shift, not that night or day really held much in the way of meaning aboard a starship, when the crewman made his way to sickbay. He cast his glance about he sickbay looking for whoever might be in charge.

After administering another hypospray to himself, he rubbed his temples and left his office. Sickbay was quiet, minus a few crew members snoring in their bio beds there for whatever ailed them. Calvin made his rounds casually, checking on patients when he noticed the new presence. "May I help you?" He asked quietly.

"No sir." The Bajoran tech shook his head and proffered the doctor a PADD. "Got a couple of routine maintenance jobs to perform, if now's a good time?"

Calvin raised an eyebrow and took a look at the PaDD. He didn't think anything was up for maintenance at this point, but he conceded with how busy he was that he may have overlooked it, which didn't make him happy. Looking up at the clock, morning revile and the business of Sickbay would be starting soon anyways, so the noise wouldn't matter.

"That's fine, I'll tag along with you if you don't mind. I like to make sure my toys are working. Want something to drink?" He asked handing the PaDD back and walking over to the replicator, knowing that there wouldn't be enough coffee in the world for today.

"If you've nothing you'd rather be doing, your welcome to. I'm fine drink wise but thank you for the offer." Grey eyes regarded the doctor for a moment. "You look tired, sir."

Ordering a black coffee quietly, he returned to his new acquaintance and followed him to his first stop in the maintenance. "Tired? yes, sir? no. Doc or Calvin please. The pomp and circumstance doesn't suit me in the day to day activities. If you aren't tired though, you aren't living life. What's first for maintenance?"

"Sorry, sir." The tech rubbed the back of his head, slightly embarrassed. He scrutinised his PADD. "I find if I'm not tired it means I'm getting enough sleep. Looks like the lights in your office are up first."

"No apology needed," Calvin said with a raised eyebrow and smile. He followed the technician to his office. A uniform jacket was neatly placed around the back of the desk chair. The desk had a few PaDDs on top in no particular arrangement. On the walls, a few pictures but mostly barren, however the decorations gave off just enough to make the space feel welcoming. Leaning against the door frame, Calvin sipped at his coffee, which was a smidge high from being the perfect temperature.

The tech hummed a tune to himself while he set up the equipment he'd need for the job. "Nothing too major here. Looks like a couple of the emitter regulators are getting to the end of their working life."

Calvin shrugged, sipping his coffee. "Hadn't noticed, but I guess that's why you are here to check things. I didn't catch your name?"

"Telleon Venn." The tech said looking back, over his shoulder.

"Well, nice to meet you," Calvin responded, watching the man steadily work.

"Likewise." Venn replied. Having completed the emitter maintenance checks, he replaced the covering panel. "Gotta do the replicator next Doc, so if you want a snack I'd grab it now."

Calvin chuckled, "Thank you but I am set. Go for it." He looked around the office, not really noticing a difference in the lighting after the maintenance. He shrugged to himself and followed the technician onward.
