Pulling a Favor

Posted on Sat Sep 14th, 2019 @ 8:38am by Lieutenant Commander William Gunnison & Commander Ichiko Gail

Mission: War and Peacekeeping
Location: Ops Office

The resident rabbitess made her way through the twists and turns of the halls of the Astraea with a confidence that seemed almost eerie to behold. She knew every turn, every twist, and the only thing she couldn't truly account for were the people in the halls.

Though, a few 'excuse me's and a few 'pardon's later and she was where she needed to be: Operations.

A smaller office by comparison to engineering or security, but at the moment no less vital. She entered Ops proper and gave a nod to some of the workforce therein. "Is Lieutenant Gunnison available? I have a small request for him. Lowest priority." she knew she was essentially adding to someone's plate the moment before shoreleave was officially announced, hence her casual stance and statement of the lowest priority.

"Yes, I am indeed here," Will said, entering. "Good to be able to officially meet you, Commander. Odd that we've never really had a chance to interact at all before, since I'm to understand that I have the job you were originally supposed to have."

"Likewise." she said with the faintest hint of a smile. Her people weren't known for emotional displays, so that may actually just be her way of showing happiness. "I'm certain that, if the political debacle had gone slightly different that we'd have had a chance to chat." And with that, she smirked. The tone, the body language, almost all of it very well controlled. A life on the moons of Ts'usu. "As for the position, I'm certain you'll do it justice."

"Thank you for your vote of confidence," Will said with a smile. "Hopefully I'll be able to do a good job. Anyway, how can I help you?"

She held out a single data chip, standard Federation isolinear variety. "I've come into the possession of a few holodeck simulations. Nothing too tricky, except they're from the Home Moons." she stressed, there was an importance there. "I was wondering, if I could be so bold as to impose a personal favor, if you could translate them from the format we use back home to something more Federation standard?"

"On the chip I've included a small primer to the Ts'usugi language, as well as our measuring system. Distance, mass, thermal, and such. Of course, I'd also make myself available to go over the nuances and such. After all, I am fluent in the language." She gave a slight giggle.

"This has no priority whatsoever. These are simply a few old favorites from back home."

"It shouldn't be a problem," Will said. "Now, from what I understand, information on the Ts'usugi, including the language and measurement system, are also on file within the ship's database. I really would hate to bother you on your much-needed shoreleave if a question came up that could be answered in a few seconds just by cross-referencing the ship's computer."

Will thought for a moment, then added, "Also, is there anything specific in any of the simulations that you wouldn't want me to look directly at? I ask because, understandably, I do like to make sure that everything is converted over properly, and I'd do that by running a little bit of at least one of the programs. And of course, I don't want to accidentally select something that's too personal."

She gave a nod and a soft smile, "I appreciate your concern. I've been assured that the file has already been scrubbed for any data that may be concerning to the Empire itself. As for anything too personal, that won't be an issue. Though again, thank you for your concern."

She paused for a moment, before realizing that there may be a slight disconnect socially. "Should you run the program, to confirm its stability, you may notice that the night sky is devoid of stars. That will be normal. The positions of stars or other identifying markers will be removed before the program is transferred off a Ts'usu controlled system, to help preserve the secrecy of the home moons' location."

"The programs are simulations of a hot spring, a park, and a small house. They are meant to be places to relax in."

"Interesting settings, especially the last one." Will said. "I wouldn't normally think of a small house as a place to relax in, though at times I think my mother might have, at times, during my younger years. With three sons, she would tell you it would be less to have to try to keep clean, though of course my brothers and I maintain that we were the very models of cleanliness, and would never have made a mess in the house." He added the last part with an "innocent" smile.

She replied with a smirk all her own, "I'm certain I don't know what you're talking about." a pause, "And thank you again for your attention in this matter. Consider me in your debt."
