Healing of a fashion

Mission: Enforced Intermission
Location: ship medical facility

Mica Rue opened her eyes to the soft glow of the medical area, blissfully free of most of the pain. She blinked twice, hearing voices nearby.

"Doctor?" she asked, hearing the smooth baritone of Calvin punctuating the calm.

"Lt. Rue, welcome back to the land of consciousness. Please try to stay still. If you give me a moment more with Doctor Jeng, I will fill you in with all the details," Calvin said after having moved within Mica's eyesight, finding it in poor taste to talk without a patient being able to see. He turned and stepped back towards Jeng and the console. "So you believe this is the appropriate attack and sequence of steps?" He asked, skimming through the plan another time.

Jeng gave a nod, after reviewing the steps and stages of the procedure. "I do." the rabbit doctor stated as he came into view. "It's a clever approach to the issue, one that should address the issue with the best chance of not just success but a fast recovery." he complimented.

"Please Doctors," Mica pipped up, her voice stronger than before. Her thinking was clearer also, and although she felt like she had been hit by a fast-moving vehicle, she was feeling more whole than she had before. She tried again, lifting her head slightly before lowering it again. "please, are the implants gone?"

Calvin nodded to Jeng before moving back in the view of Mica. “The implants are not gone yet, we are just about to start the process of removing them. We have a plan, and Doctor Jeng has some expertise in the field.”

The woman’s eyes glassed. “I’m sorry, it’ll be harder since I shot them.” Her head was starting to throb, and she could feel her heart speeding up. But the words wouldn’t stop, the emotions pouring out of her. “I think we did more damage.” She lifted a hand, the digits shaking. Calvin was trying to calm her, but the lieutenant resisted, tears streaming down her cheeks now.

"Lieutenant." Jeng spoke, calm and measured, "There's not a Ts'usugi alive in the medical field that hasn't been a battlefield medic at least once. I'm confident we can still handle the procedure, regardless of the source of the damage." He imagined she had her reasons but he was a doctor, not a counselor.

“We’ve got a good plan that everyone agrees on,” Calvin said, lowering himself so they were more eye level. He reached about and grasped Mica’s hand. “Mica,” He said softly, “You’re in a hard spot right now, but we’re here and we will get you through this, together,” His voice soft, his smile genuine with a twinkle in his eye.

the Lt bit her bottom lip and nodded slightly, just once before she rested her head back and closed her eyes.

“Well then, shall we?” Calvin asked Jeng, moving to a secondary position. Close enough to see, and get his hands in there, but out of the way of Jeng who would take lead.

"We begin at once." and Jeng summoned two other nurse aids. He quickly explained the purpose of the procedure, and the four of them entered into the theater...
