Mission:
War and Peacekeeping
Location: CO's Ready Room
Aleksi had gathered up his notes, which to be fair wasn't a whole lot. Outside of one singular piece of damning evidence they found really nothing. This attack had been very well done, so much so that he had actually been impressed. It wasn't the fact they hid there had been an attack, it was they made it difficult to actually tell who did it. The real question was, what was he going to sell the boss, and how. It was an answer he still didn't have when he chimed her door, bottle of bourbon in his free hand.
Abigail had been about to reply to Ichiko when her door chimed. "Let's see, we've had all the Trions onboard for about an hour, what do you think could possibly have gone wrong?" she said dryly, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "Enter!"
Aleksi crossed into the room, rather unsurprised both the number one and two officers were present. A quick glance at Abigail allowed him to judge the tone of the room, and it wasn't a favorable one. Looking at Ichiko he smirked, "I suppose this isn't the time to ask her about installing an enhanced interrogation chamber."
"What you call the Holodeck, we call the Multipurp Room for a reason." Ichiko smirked, "Though, enhanced interrogation has proven less than effective." a pause, "Plus it's wrong."
"Morality, such an outdated concept," It would surprise most people but Aleksi wasn't fond of actual physical harm, finding it, as Ichiko said, not particularly useful and had a tendency to ruin whatever clothes the interrogator was wearing; however, it was always worth the joke. This one apparently fell flat, "I'm here to report on the initial findings."
Suppressing a small smile, Abigail glanced from Ichiko back to Aleksi before turning a careful gaze back to Ichiko again. "You know, with the mood I'm in right now, an enhanced interrogation chamber doesn't sound like a terrible idea..." Turning to Aleksi she smiled sweetly as she looked up at him. "I assume your desire to have one installed means you have no objection to being the first to be interrogated of course?"
Motioning for him to take a seat, she leaned back in her seat and sighed. "Joking aside, what do you have for us Lieutenant? Please tell me it's good news."
"Only if it's you or Commander Gail behind the stun baton," Aleksi set the bourbon on the table, indicating the news may not be favorable, "Well, the most positive development is that we know someone jacked with the computer in such a way that it killed the the cooling systems. Whether it was deliberate or not is still up in the air, mainly because someone then went and repaired the coding in an attempt to fix the problem and wiped away the forensics in the processes."
"We'll talk batons later." Ichiko said with a smirk, turning to include Aleksi in her posture. "So, in essence, someone played clean up either not knowing what they were doing, or knowing exactly what they were doing."
"I think we should go forward with the assumption that someone on that ship was an inside agent, and be on the lookout for crew transfers. Anyone a little too eager to join us on the rest of the trip should be delayed for all appropriate reviews." she cited with a smirk.
"I'll get with Lieutenant Matashi to discuss if there were any unusual transfers," Aleksi nodded, letting the commanders lead the conversation, "As for the localized fire the theory is something about faulty wiring," Pulling out a PADD he handed it over to Abigail, "Of course, it was a rat's nest when they finally suppressed the flames. Could be fortuitous timing, could have been something to do with the virus, could be piss poor maintenance. Hell, it could be a separate incident of sabotage altogether. However it was done, the fact their stellar navigation went down led to their sudden and uncomfortable stop."
"We won't be taking any crew from the Zendaya," Abigail said quietly. "Anyone that wishes to join can be collected from Starbase after we return the Trion's home." She glanced between Ichiko and Aleksi. "Is there anything else we should be aware of right now?"
"Not from our end. I worked with security to make sure their quarters didn't have anything one could build a bomb out of, or for that matter mustard or chlorine gas, so IEDs shouldn't be an issue," Aleksi looked over to Ichiko, "Did the force fields in the Jefferies Tubes get approved?"
"Yes." Ichiko responded, with the tone that seemed to indicate there was more to come after a sip of tea.
"They are emergency environmental fields to prevent the spread of airborne contaminants or to preserve atmosphere in the event of decompression." she cited. "However, they are faulty and may accidentally trigger in scenarios where neither is the case. Anyone in a tube during one of these malfunctions may find themselves trapped until engineering arrives to correct the mistake."
"I understand that Starfleet is apologetic about the presence of such a malfunction."
Abigail stifled a laugh behind her hand, which quickly became a coverup cough. "Well, it seems we're still finding new kinks to work out after the retrofit," she said, struggling to keep an even, non reactional tone to her voice as she spoke. "I'm sure there will be many more to come. So what does that leave us with?"
"A bottle of bourbon and very tense days ahead of us," Aleksi chuckled, picking up the bottle, "Have any glasses lying about?"
"Replicate some," Abigail said with a slight smirk. "That magic box over on the wall?"
"We'll see if it let's me access such things," He smirked back, approaching the replicator and ordering the glasses. Uneventfully three glasses appeared. Pouring the drinks he handed them out to the the command staff, "Apparently the incantations worked."
Ichiko gently rolled her eyes. "Such sorcery. Were it not for Professor Insipp, I'd be impressed by your space wizard power." she actually giggled, before claiming her glass. "Don't try to get me drunk, good sir. I'll remember." she teased.
Half teased.
