| Personal History | Dirk grew up in Texas on a cattle farm, the hard work and hard scrabble living toughened him at a young age. His grandfather liked to tell stories about the cowboys of old around a campfire. This instilled a desire to explore the far reaches of space and become like the cowboys old. Dirk joined Starfleet as Security/Tactical officer, after graduating high school. He learned of the downfalls of alcohol after a drinking game turned into a fight. During the fight, Dirk was cut on the right side by a broken glass bottle. The Starfleet doctor offered to remove the scar but Dirk declined. He chose to keep it as a reminder of his shortcomings. Since that time he has not had any liquor or alcoholic beverage, unless it was required as part of a ceremony with foreign race dignitaries. Dirk's career has spanned 30 years, he is looking forward to the challenge of commanding his own ship soon and is awaiting the day with eager anticipation |
