Pegasus Fleet -- Monthly Report -- September 2019

Posted on Mon Sep 9th, 2019 @ 6:13pm by Captain Abigail Laurens

Hello everyone!

I have a handful of updates for you this month, and most of them are in regards to staff positions. So let's get started!

First off, I'd like to welcome to the PFA Rear Admiral Niamh Devane, or as most of you probably know her, Amethyst! Amethyst brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, as well as a detailed plan for how the Fleet can better serve our commanding officers and members through the Pegasus Fleet Academy. She has previously served the Fleet as an Academy instructor and the TF56 Commanding Officer, which she will continue to hold in the interim. Amethyst also commands the USS Astraea.

Congratulations, Admiral, and welcome to the team. We’re looking forward to working with you and seeing where your leadership takes the Academy!

On a sadder note, Fleet Captain Evelynn Haught, AKA Terris or TerBear, has announced that he is stepping down as TF37 CO. Terris has been one of our longest serving TFCOs, and since joining the Fleet back at its inception, has held a number of different staff and admiralty positions, including a time as our PFCO. His resignation now is so he can spend more time focusing on his sim, the USS Lantau, and his other simming characters. We thank you for your service as TFCO, and we wish you luck in the future with the Lantau and your other endeavors.

With Amethyst taking over the Academy and Terris stepping down as TFCO, this means that we currently have two openings for TFCO for TF56 and TF37. This means we are now looking for new candidates for TFCO. Ideal candidates are members of the fleet with experience commanding long running sims, as well as a strong interest in helping see the Fleet grow and improve. Good communication skills are a must. Interested members can apply for the position using the link below. The PFA will begin reviewing applications on Monday, September 16. So candidates should submit their applications prior to that date if they want to be among the first applications reviewed.

However, we are not done with the staff related announcements. This past month the PFA and the COs of the Fleet voted on and approved some changes to the Pegasus Fleet Constitution. Specifically the changes are in regards to the structure of the PFA. Previously the PFA was made of only five members: the PFCO, Chief of Fleet Ops, Chief of Public Relations, Director of Resources, and Academy Commandant. However, the constitution allowed for the selection of a PFXO from among the four department heads. Vice Admiral S'iraa has held this position along with CPR.

The proposal that was approved by the COs removes the requirement that the optional PFXO be selected from the four department heads, allowing the option for the position to be a stand alone position. As the Fleet continues to grow, new challenges await us, and the ability to have a separate PFXO allows us to better distribute out workload to see to the day to day operation of the Fleet. Because of this, Admiral S'iraa will be retaining his role as PFXO, but vacating the role of Chief of Public Relations. This change means that we are increasing the membership of the Pegasus Fleet Admiralty from five to six. Because of that, it means that we now have an opening at Chief of Public Relations. And because of THAT, it means that there is another opportunity for one of you to join the PFA!

We are now taking applications for Chief of Public Relations. An ideal candidate for this position is a member of the Fleet with excellent communication skills, and experienced in recruitment and advertising techniques. We are looking for someone with a dedication and passion for promoting Pegasus Fleet and helping us grow by attracting new members. The PFA will begin reviewing applications for this position on Monday, September 16 as well, so interested candidates should submit their application using the link below before that date.

This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, September 8. It will start at 3:00 pm EDT / 8:00 pm GMT. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, October 13.

As always, Live Long and Prosper
Alex
